My name is Wes Mills and I’m a PA-C with experience in inpatient psychiatry and telemedicine. I have treated patients at the highest acuity across a range of mental health disorders, including major depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and substance abuse disorders. My approach to practicing medicine is to have patients involved as active participants in their treatment, to incorporate family and support systems where necessary, and to achieve excellent continuity of care. I’m a goal-oriented person who enjoys discussing attainable, incremental goals in a patient’s progress with their treatment. I strive to establish solid professional relationships with patients, while maintaining a relaxed and open environment that allows patients to feel at ease.

Background

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Hendrix College in Conway, AR. After undergraduate school, I assisted in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Microbiology research lab, which studied novel treatments for Methicillin-resistant Staph aureus infections. During this time, I volunteered extensively with the UAMS student-run free clinic, which provides free medical and dental services to the underserved populations of Little Rock, AR. It was my time in the free clinic that exposed me to the PA profession and piqued my interest in medicine, particularly psychiatry. I subsequently attended the UAMS PA program and obtained my Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies, where I was nominated for the AAPA “PA Student of the Year” by my peers. After graduation, I began working at an inpatient behavioral health unit in rural North Carolina. I enjoyed my experience in North Carolina, but decided to pursue a telehealth practice full-time to be able to live with my partner in Virginia.
