Under Florida Statutes § 456.47, a licensed telehealth provider may perform a patient evaluation and treat patients through synchronous (real-time video) technology, and is not required to conduct a prior in-person physical exam when the telehealth evaluation is sufficient to diagnose and treat. The law requires telehealth providers to practice consistent with the same prevailing professional standard of practice that applies to in-person care.

Can I see a psychiatrist online in Florida?

Yes. TelepsychHealth provides telehealth psychiatry to adults anywhere in Florida: a full psychiatric evaluation, a diagnosis and ongoing medication management by secure video, with therapy on the same team if you want it. Care is led by Dr. Bruce Bassi, a board-certified psychiatrist who holds a Florida medical license, and delivered by psychiatric physician assistants and a psychiatric nurse practitioner registered with the Florida Department of Health as telehealth providers. We're accepting new patients across the state.

What insurance do you take in Florida?

For psychiatric care in Florida we're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare/Optum and TRICARE. Our therapists are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare and TRICARE (plans vary by therapist). We accept Medicare for psychiatric visits only, not for therapy. Because plans can differ from one clinician to the next, we match you with someone in network with your plan and check your benefits before your first appointment. Do you accept Medicare in Florida?

Yes, for psychiatric care. We accept Medicare for psychiatric evaluations and medication management by video anywhere in Florida. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, we check whether we're in that plan's network before your first visit. Medicare covers your psychiatric visits with us, not therapy: our therapists don't bill Medicare, so therapy here is available with commercial insurance, TRICARE or self-pay.

Can adults get ADHD treatment online in Florida?

Yes. We evaluate and treat adult ADHD by secure video anywhere in Florida. The evaluation looks at your history, your current symptoms and how they affect work, school and home; afterwards your clinician explains the findings and builds a plan with you that can include medication when it is clinically appropriate, along with therapy and practical strategies, and regular follow-up visits. Prescribing decisions are made by your clinician after the evaluation, and we can't promise a specific medication before we've met you.

Can I see a psychiatrist by video in Miami using my insurance?

Yes. You can see our psychiatric providers by secure video from anywhere in Miami-Dade, from Miami Beach and Hialeah to Coral Gables, Kendall, Doral and Homestead, with no drive across the county and no waiting room. Your insurance works the same way as anywhere else in Florida: we're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare/Optum and TRICARE, and we accept Medicare for psychiatric care. The same goes for Broward and Palm Beach counties, from Fort Lauderdale to Boca Raton and West Palm Beach. Most new patients see one of our psychiatric physician assistants or our psychiatric nurse practitioner, on a team led by board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Bruce Bassi.

Do you offer therapy in Florida, and does insurance cover it?

Yes. Florida is one of three states where we offer therapy, along with Illinois and Texas. Our three licensed counselors, each registered with the Florida Department of Health as a telehealth provider, see adults by video and are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare and TRICARE (plans vary by therapist). Can you prescribe medication in Florida?

Yes. Our psychiatric providers, licensed or registered to treat patients in Florida, manage medication and coordinate it with therapy as a single plan. Controlled medications, including stimulants for ADHD, are prescribed when clinically appropriate and in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Does Florida allow telehealth psychiatry, and are your providers licensed here?

Yes. Under section 456.47 of Florida law, a clinician can treat you by telehealth with a Florida license, or by registering with the Florida Department of Health as an out-of-state telehealth provider, which requires an active, unencumbered license in another state. Our medical director, Dr. Bruce Bassi, holds a Florida medical license; our other psychiatric providers and our therapists are registered Florida telehealth providers. The same law says a telehealth provider whose video evaluation is enough to diagnose and treat you does not have to do an in-person physical exam first. You can look up any of our clinicians on the Florida Department of Health's license verification portal.

Do I have to be in Florida during my appointment?

Yes. Our clinicians are licensed or registered to treat patients who are located in Florida, so you need to be physically in the state for each video visit, whether you join from home, from work or anywhere private. If you spend part of the year outside Florida, tell us before you travel: we can see you elsewhere only in a state where we practice and your provider holds a license, and therapy is offered only in Florida, Illinois and Texas.

I live outside the big cities, in a place like Lakeland, Ocala or the Panhandle. Can I still be seen?

Yes. Every visit is by secure video, so you are seen the same way whether you live in Pensacola, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Ocala, Lakeland, Fort Myers or the Keys. All you need is a private space, a phone or computer with a camera, and an internet connection.

How soon can I be seen in Florida?
