To qualify for a telehealth visit with Medicare, you would need to qualify for criteria (1) and (2)

(1) As a patient, you would need to be physically located in what medicare considers an “originating site.” An originating site authorized by law include:

• Offices of a Physician or Practitioner

• Hospitals

• Critical Access Hospitals

• Community Mental Health Centers

• Skilled Nursing Facilities

• Rural Health Clinics

• Federally Qualified Health Centers

• Hospital-Based or Critical Access Hospital (CAH)-Based Renal Dialysis Centers (including satellites). Independent Renal Dialysis Facilities are not eligible originating sites. 

(2) The site must be in a rural area: Verify if the address is eligible for telehealth.

• Sites in these rural counties typically always qualify: Bradford, Calhoun, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Franklin, Glades, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Holmes, Jackson, Lafayette, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Monroe, Okeechobee, Putnam, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, or Washington

• If you live in any one of the following metro counties (Baker, Broward, Charlotte, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hernando, Highlands, Lake, Lee, Marion, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Okaloosa, Osceola, Palm Beach, Polk, Sumter, Volusia, or Walton) you would need to enter the address to determine if it is rural.
