Most insurers now cover telehealth psychiatry and online therapy the same way they cover an in-office visit. Here's what being in-network with us actually means for you.

A standard copay, not a surprise bill

When we're in-network with your plan, your video visits are billed like any covered mental health appointment, so your out-of-pocket cost is typically your usual copay or coinsurance.

Major insurers, Medicare, and straight NY Medicaid

We're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem in some states) and UnitedHealthcare/Optum in all 10 states, and with Cigna, Humana and TRICARE in some of them. Your state's page lists its plans: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Texas. We accept Medicare for psychiatric care in all 10 states. In New York we also take straight, fee-for-service Medicaid (not Medicaid managed care plans), so New Yorkers with that coverage can be seen online.

Which insurance plans does TelepsychHealth accept?

We're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem in some states) and UnitedHealthcare/Optum in all 10 states we serve, and with Cigna, Humana and TRICARE in some of them — your state's page lists its plans. We accept Medicare for psychiatric care; our therapists do not take Medicare. In New York we also take straight, fee-for-service Medicaid — usually what you have when the New York State Benefit Identification Card is your only Medicaid card — not the Medicaid managed care plans. If you don't see your plan, call us at (888) 730-5220 and we'll check your specific benefits.

Do you accept Medicaid?

We accept straight, fee-for-service Medicaid in New York only. TelepsychHealth is an enrolled New York Medicaid provider, so New Yorkers with straight Medicaid can see a New York-licensed psychiatric provider online with us. We accept only straight, fee-for-service New York Medicaid — usually what you have when the New York State Benefit Identification Card is your only Medicaid card — not the Medicaid managed care plans (such as Fidelis Care, Healthfirst or MetroPlus) some New Yorkers carry instead. We are not currently enrolled with Medicaid in the other states we serve. Call (888) 730-5220 and we will check your specific coverage before you book.

How do I know what my visit will cost?

Before your first appointment, our team verifies your benefits and tells you whether your plan is in-network and what your expected copay or coinsurance will be. You'll know your cost before you start care, with no surprise bills.

What if my insurance isn't accepted or I'd rather not use it?

Self-pay is always an option, with flat rates published on our self-pay rates page — an initial psychiatric evaluation is $225 with a psychiatric NP or PA ($450 with our psychiatrist, who is taking a limited number of new patients). Many patients choose self-pay when their plan is out of network or when they'd simply prefer to pay directly.

Are online visits really covered like in-person care?

Yes. Most insurers now cover telehealth psychiatry and online mental health visits the same way they cover an in-office appointment. Because every TelepsychHealth visit is 100% online, your covered video visits are billed just like a standard mental health appointment.
