Who we can see with straight New York Medicaid
Who usually has straight Medicaid in New York
Most New Yorkers on Medicaid are enrolled in a managed care plan. But New York keeps some groups out of mainstream Medicaid managed care and lets others choose not to join, so people in these groups usually have straight, fee-for-service Medicaid. We confirm your coverage before your first visit either way.
If you have both Medicare and Medicaid, New York excludes you from mainstream Medicaid managed care unless you have joined a plan that combines the two, such as a D-SNP. We accept Medicare too.
If you have comprehensive private health insurance alongside Medicaid, through a job for example, you are excluded from Medicaid managed care. Your private plan pays first, and we're in-network with major commercial plans.
If you qualify for Medicaid by spending part of your income on medical bills each month, sometimes called a spend-down or excess-income case, New York excludes you from Medicaid managed care.
American Indians and Alaska Natives do not have to join a Medicaid managed care plan. It's your choice, so you can keep straight Medicaid.

If you'd rather not manage a patient's psychiatric medication, refer them to us. We provide psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management by secure video anywhere in New York, and we also take Medicare and major commercial plans.
Patients with straight, fee-for-service New York Medicaid, usually one of the groups above, rather than a managed care plan such as Fidelis Care, Healthfirst or MetroPlus. Your eligibility check shows whether a plan is on file, and we verify eligibility again before the first visit.
Depression, anxiety, ADHD (including stimulants when an evaluation shows they're the right fit), bipolar disorder, PTSD, insomnia, and alcohol or substance use. Every visit is by video, and your patient must be in New York during each one.

With your patient's permission, the signed consult note is faxed or emailed to your office automatically, about 15 minutes after it's signed, so you know the diagnosis and the medication plan.
Which Medicaid coverage we accept
We accept straight, fee-for-service New York Medicaid — usually what you have when the New York State Benefit Identification Card is your only Medicaid card. We are not currently enrolled with the Medicaid managed care plans that many New Yorkers are assigned to instead, so if you receive your Medicaid benefits through a managed care plan we won't be able to bill it today.
